Predictable, unpredictable.
Exhilarating, profound.
Safe, carefree.
Familiar, untried.
These are some of the words that define my love of clay. It anchors me to my past, yet is on the cutting edge of the rest of my life. In my ceramic artwork I am experimenting with various clay bodies, firing techniques, and glazes. Each day has been a gift to see what will happen next.
The natural world has always anchored me to the things I hold dear, family and faith. It inspires my artwork and gives it soul. In
it I find a great freedom to exercise creative muscles that have long
lain fallow. These are the words that describe my evolution as a ceramic
artist:
Emboldened, sensitive.
Thoughtful, impulsive.
Strong, observant.
Mellowed, fresh.
